CANDLE CARE

1. ACHIEVE A FULL MELT POOL

It is extremely important to allow your candle to melt all the way to the edges of the jar the first time you burn your candle. This usually takes a few hours. Soy wax has a 'memory' so doing this will ensure an even burn for the remainder of your candles life. Failure to let your melt pool meet the edges of your jar will result in 'tunnelling' and means you may not be able to enjoy your candle to its complete entirety.

2. TRIM YOUR WICK

Before lighting your candle each time, be sure to trim your candle wick to 1/4 inch long. Trimming your wick will make sure that you have a more stable burn without letting your flame get too big, this usually can help prolong your candles life and help make burning your candles safer as it releases less emissions and ensures a smaller flame. You can trim your wick by using wick cutting scissors, or simply by pinching off the burnt bits of your wick with your fingers. You will also want to remove any debris from your candle before re-lighting. Trimming your wick will ensure your candle won't smoke excessively or burn too fast. If you find your candle is smoking excessively, blow it out, allow it to cool down, trim and relight.

 3. LIMIT YOUR BURN TIME

Only burn your candles for no more than 4 hours at a time. Allowing your candle to burn for longer will shorten the life of your candle due to a large flame size. Having a flame that it too large is also a safety hazard. A large flame size indicates that your wick is too long, so always ensure you are trimming your wicks before lighting your candle.

4. KEEP OUT OF REACH

It is very important that you make sure your candle is positioned away from any drafts and flammable objects/materials. Make sure your candle is also out of reach from children and pets.

5. NEVER LEAVE YOUR CANDLE UNATTENDED

It is extremely important to make sure that you never leave your candle unattended. Before leaving the room, make sure you extinguish the flame completely. Failure to do so may result in serious outcomes.

6. PICK YOUR CANDLE SURFACE CAREFULLY

Always place your candle on a level, heat-resistant, non-flammable surface away from fabric and any other flammable objects. We always recommend placing your candle on flat dish or a candle plate. This is particularly important for decorative candles, as you will need something to capture the excess wax to prevent it from falling on any unwanted materials.

7. CANDLE STORAGE

When you are not using your candle(s), make sure to store it in a cool, dry area away from any direct sunlight.

8. REPURPOSE YOUR CANDLE JARS

Once your candle wax has reached below 2cm in height, it is time to stop burning your candle as it can become unsafe due to the jar surface becoming very hot. Don't be upset though as this is your chance to repurpose your jar and give it a new life! To clean your jar, simply pour hot water into the jar and allow the remaining wax to melt to the top. Once the wax has completely melted and cooled, you will be able to pick the wax out of your jar with you hands. Wash the jar with warm soapy water and you're good to go!
